Footloose Now Playing at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres - When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. April 19 – May 14, 2022 - Bucket Brigade presents Stephen Temperley’s SOUVENIR: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins.  SOUVENIR celebrates the story of Florence Foster Jenkins– a wealthy society eccentric who suffered under the delusion that she was a great coloratura soprano when she was in fact incapable of producing two consecutive notes in tune. The hilarious and poignant play tells her story through the eyes of her accompanist, Cosme McMoon. Faced with her boundless confidence and certainty, Cosme comes to revise his attitude, not only towards her singing but to the very meaning of music, and indeed of friendship itself.  Directed by Jeffrey S. Miller and featuring beloved Twin Cities performers Vanessa Gamble and Michael Pearce Donley.   Playing April 29 – May 14, 2022, at Art House North, 793 Armstrong Avenue in Saint Paul. $25 for Seniors. Only $20 for opening weekend. Tickets and COVID safety related information is found at www.bucketbrigadetheater.com, or 612-547-9839.  This show is in two Acts, runs approximately 90 minutes, and includes a short intermission. Due to lower numbers of Covid cases in the state, milder variants and generally more encouraging Covid related news, we are making this a mask-optional event. To limit Covid risk we are reducing the audience capacity which will allow for a little more distance between folks.
