Professionals who make a difference by providing assistance and friendship to adults. Whether it be a companion to accompany you to the theater or an event to just having a friend over for coffee at home.

Lutheran Social Service of MN - Senior Companion Services

Our Senior Companion service is available across Minnesota and North Dakota and assists older adults so they are able to remain healthy and active in their own homes?for as long as possible. Our companions are trained volunteers who visit three to four hours per week to offer support, friendship and transportation into the community. Senior Companion assistance is available to seniors who would be able to continue living independently at home with the support of a weekly friendly visitor.

Services may be covered by: Elderly waiver (EW) or Alternative Care (AC) funding for older adults 65 years of age or older and eligible for in-home services. UCare Minnesota for Seniors members (a Medicare Advantage plan offered through UCare). Other public health and community partners.

Lutheran Social Service of MN – Neighbor to Neighbor Companion Services

Neighbor to Neighbor Companions is a bridge to a fuller, more active life for older adults who want to continue living at home, stay healthy and remain as independent as possible. Our dedicated companions offer assistance with daily activities and appointments, a link to the community, and an opportunity for meaningful friendship. This innovative service is available for purchase in rural and metro areas across Minnesota, including in Brainerd, Mankato, Rochester, St. Cloud and the Twin Cities.

How it works We partner with you, your family, and your health care provider(s) to design a plan that fits your schedule. A trained local companion will then begin weekly visits to support your specific needs—both at home and with transportation to community activities. You can depend on quality care from our companions who undergo comprehensive background and driving checks, and our experienced staff are available to address questions along the way.
